In the accident, the C4 bone in my neck was broken and it cut my spinal cord. I am paralyzed from the neck down and have lost feeling in 80% of my body, but I’m able to move my arms a little. I have a permanent catheter to urinate, but I often get urinary system infections from it. My immune system is very weak so I am affected badly by infections. I have a constant high temperature, tiredness and intense headaches. And as a result, I have to go to hospital once a month.
Being disabled has made my lungs weak and I am visited monthly by a doctor who specializes in respiratory problems. And even though three years have passed since the accident, I am still finding it difficult to come to terms with my new life. To help me with this, a psychiatrist comes to see me twice a month.
